Basil Tartar Sauce

Nice tangy basil tartar sauce that goes nicely with warm crab cakes. Mayonnaise is combined with lemon zest, white onion, capers, and fresh basil.

Ingredients -
1/2 cup Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon finely chopped White Onion
1 tablespoon chopped Fresh Basil
2 teaspoons chopped Capers
1/4 teaspoon grated Lemon Peel
 
Preparation:

1. Process mayonnaise, white onion, fresh basil, capers, and lemon peel in food processor or blender.

2. Remove to small serving bowl.

3. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

Fresh Basil

Substitute your favorite fresh herb, such as rosemary or parsley for the basil to find a combination that goes well with everything on your menu.

Grated Lemon Peel

Substitute dried lemon peel, or fresh lemon juice for the lemon peel only if you absolutely have to, as the fresh zest adds nice flavor, color and texture color not found in dried lemon peel or lemon juice.
